Today, Mom and I went to the movie theatre to watch the second movie of The Hunger Games- Catching Fire.

The last movie talked about how every year the capital has the hunger games. The hunger games is where a boy and a girl randomly get picked out of each district, twelve districts in total. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Malark got picked out in district twelve. Twenty-four people have to kill each other in the arena, until only one person survives. They die of hunger, dehydration, illness mainly. Katniss and Peeta broke the rule; they both lived until the end and wouldn’t kill each other. They even threatened the capital that if they wouldn’t agree, they will die together.

President Snow said Peeta and Katniss to stay in love; because they have to convince the people in the capital that they love each other so much that they’d rather die together than let one of them die. They had to do the victory tour. Katniss was very angry because whenever the people in the district want to express their feelings, the peacekeepers shoot them. The people in all the districts were angry too because the victors have to do a speech which can’t really express their feelings. When Gale (Katniss’s best friend) gets whipped half dead because he went out with Katniss, she really wanted to run away. Then there is the Quarter-quell. The Quarter-quell is where two victors (a boy and a girl) get picked out of each district to play the hunger games again. Katniss wanted to cry because these seventy-five years, only three people won the hunger games in district twelve(two boys, one girl). That meant she had to play the hunger games again. Their mentor, Haymitch Abernthay was chosen with Katniss. The quarter quell is scarier because this year, all the victors are going to face each other. Some of them can throw the javelin farther than a speeding arrow. One of them won by ripping people’s neck with her bare teeth! Haymitch told Katniss that she had to find allies first. She made ally with Betee (the genius), Finnick (the muscular guy) , Mags (the expert at making things), and Joannna(the fierce lady). They spent the first night in the forest. Katniss was up for first-watch. Suddenly a clear green mist started to flow around. The mist was creeping toward them, and when it touched Katniss’s skin it stung! Where the mist had touched her, green oozing blisters began spreading over her body. She woke the others immediately. Finnick had to carry Mags because she was old. The mist started to surround them and was spreading fast. Finnick cried when Mags kissed him goodbye and walked into the mist, because she was slowing them down so much. Mags had raised Finnick up when he was young. They found water and bathed. The water really helped with their blisters. About an hour later, a sound of a monkey screaming startled them. Then a bunch of scary looking monkeys flew up into the tree. They had razor teeth and moonlight shown on their ugly faces. The monkeys tried to bite them and hit them, and soon they found out that the monkeys were carnivores. The big male monkey almost bit Katniss’s arm in half! Finnick stabbed the monkeys fiercely. The monkeys ran away. Soon Beetee figured out that each hour a new disaster came. Twelve o’clock was the poison mist, One o’clock was the monkeys, two o’clock is the blood rain and three o’clock is the jabberjays. Then there are the big waves and the lightning strike. Beetee figured out that if he attached a wire to the lightning-strike tree, the other end would electrocute anything. He ordered Joanna and Katniss to bring the other end of the wire to the water. A sudden shock of lightning broke the wire and the tree got blasted. Without thinking, Katniss attached a bit of wire to her arrow and shot it at the force field sealing them inside. The force field got blasted into smithereens and the last thing Katniss saw was the sky falling. She woke up in the capital’s jet. And the first thing she knew was Gale telling her that District 12 has burned into ashes and that the people were moving into a unknown district- district 13.
